Volunteering for Symbiosis Events

Symbiosis is growing, and we are always in need of talented and enthusiastic individuals to join our prduction crew. If you are interested in helping to provide fun and inspiring experiences for people, and you have a foundation of environmental and socially conscious values, we could probably use your help! Read the guidelines below for more information about our expectations and priorities, and then complete the Online Volunteer Signup to be notified about future events where we need volunteers.

Symbiosis Volunteer Guidelines

You are about to become a part of an innovative and inspiring production... As a volunteer, be prepared to meet lots of inspiring new people, learn on the go, and uphold the ecological and socially responsible values framed in the Symbiosis Mission Statement. The following guidelines are designed to maintain an effective, supportive and respectful atmosphere:

1. Well-Being
When working at a large event, it is easy to get caught up in the proceedings. Please be responsible for your own well-being. Be prepared for variable weather and stay hydrated.

2. Communication
All event supervisors and selected staff will have walkie-talkies. If you encounter a condition that you do not know how to handle, talk to one of these people or go to the info booth.

3. Security
If you should observe a condition that requires intervention (e.g., someone tampering with a car, a fight, etc.) do not put yourself in jeopardy: tell your supervisor or the security guard in the area. If you cannot find a supervisor or guard, go to the Info Booth and ask the booth supervisor to communicate the situation to the security team. There will be a supervisor on-site for medical emergencies.

4. Being Reliable
The success of Symbiosis depends on us all. Be knowledgeable about your specific role. Please be clear about where to check in for your assigned tasks, how to check out, and please be on time (or early!).

5. Being with Attendees
Treat attendees at Symbiosis like guests in your home. If you see someone who needs help, assist them, or direct them to the Info Booth. Be gracious. Remember, we are the hosts.

6. Working with Assignments
As part of a dynamic production, your tasks are assigned according to priorities determined by the event supervisors. Some jobs may be more demanding than others. We are all working together to pull off a spectacular time, so please support these efforts and be ready to respond however necessary.

7. Keeping it Clean
This is something for everyone: HELP KEEP THE SITE SPOTLESS. Our commitment is to leave the site cleaner than we found it. No matter what your job at Symbiosis -- whether you are still assisting or not -- please do more than your share to keep the grounds the way we would like to see the earth.

Be ready to have a great time!
